(CALEDON, ON) – On January 30, 2016 at approximately 7:05 pm, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol travelling on Airport Road when he observed a Volkswagen with an expired validation permit on the rear licence plate of the motor vehicle. Subsequently, the officer conducted a vehicle stop due to the Highway Traffic Act violation. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver’s breath. The officer then made an Approved Screening Device Demand to the driver. The driver registered a ‘FAIL’ on the device and he was arrested.
As a result of the traffic stop, Quinn MARTIN, 37, from Brantford was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of blood and was further charged with the violation under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario regarding his permit.
The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The accused was released and he is scheduled to make a first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on February 11, 2016.
