(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Saturday, January 30, 2016 at approximately 11:52 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11/17 and Balsam Street.
While speaking with the driver, officers detected an odour of Marihuana emitting from the vehicle. The police investigation resulted in the arrest of the male driver and passenger and officers conducted a search of the vehicle. Police located approximately 2.5 pounds of Marihuana within the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, Khoa PHAM, 42 year old male, from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with;
-Possession of a Schedule ll Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Marihuana
-Produce a Schedule ll Substance – Marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, as well as,
-Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code.
Lo Van TRAN, 49 year old male, from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with;
-Possession of a Schedule ll Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Marihuana,
-Produce a Schedule ll Substance – Marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Both males were held in custody for a video court appearance.
