(PERRY TWP, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the theft of a snowmobile trailer on Wednesday January 27, 2016 at approximately 3:30 p.m.
The investigation revealed that the trailer was taken sometime between Tuesday December 15, 2015 and Monday January 25, 2016 from a North Bay Lake Road property. The trailer is described as a 2005 silver Hyland snowmobile trailer.
Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS OPP PATROLING FOR
SNOWMOBILE VIOLATIONS
(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for the month of February will be performing dedicated focused patrol of the Almaguin Highlands area for motorized snow vehicle (MSV) violations. Officers will be enforcing the Trespass to Property Act for drivers using private property or sidewalks when travelling. Officers have issued three Provincial offence notices for snowmobile violations this past weekend.
All operators of MSV’S are required to know the law pertaining to snowmobiles.
You CAN ride:
• On your own property
• On private trails belonging to organizations of which you are a member
• On private property, with the owner’s permission
• Alongside public roads, between the shoulder and fence line (unless prohibited by the municipality)
You CAN’T ride:
• On certain high-speed roads
• On the pavement of public roads where vehicles drive
• On the ploughed portion of the shoulder
• On sidewalks
Always check with your local municipality regarding their by-laws.
The OPP would also like to remind MSV operators to check your vehicle prior to taking trips to make sure it is in proper running condition. Always carry an emergency kit, flashlight, cell phone and non-perishable food items. Let someone know where you are travelling and when you plan on returning. Always check ice conditions before heading out on the lakes, rivers and waterways.
Almaguin Highlands OPP wants everyone to enjoy winter, but remember to play safe.
