(Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate after three young children were offered a ride yesterday just after 5:00pm.
The children (two age 6 and one 9) were walking a dog on McLean Ave in the Village of Havelock when the driver of a van told them what a nice dog they had and then asked if the children wanted a ride to Toronto. There was a passenger in the van; however the children did not get a description of that male. When the children declined the offer, the van sped away westbound towards the Tim Hortons.
The driver is described as:
Black male
35-40 years of age
Short hair
Clean shaven
Wearing a black leather jacket
The vehicle is described as:
Grey coloured mini van
Dark coloured lettering on the side
Handicap sticker on the rear hatch area
Dark tint on rear windows of the van
Investigators are currently working to identify the occupants of the suspect vehicle. Any further information regarding this or similar incidents should be immediately reported to police.
