(MASSEY, ON) – At 4:45 a.m., on May 29, 2016, members from the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in progress at a local financial institution situated on Sables Street in the town of Massey.
As police arrived at the scene, a male individual coming out of the building was arrested for several offences.
Investigation revealed that the accused had smashed various computer components as well as security hardware and attempted to gain access to the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and safe.
Shawn COTE, 30 years of age, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the following:
Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
Mischief over $5000, contrary to section 430(3) of the Criminal Code
Disguise with intent, contrary to section 351(2) of the Criminal Code
The accused was held in custody pending a show cause hearing.
