(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated an incident at a Lakeshore Road, Houghton, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Saturday, July 23, 2016 at approximately 8:21 p.m., police received a call from a concerned citizen reporting an incident.
Through the course of investigation, it was determined that a male was walking a 160 pound St Bernard on a leash when they were approached by an unknown male wanting to pet the animal. The dog owner informed the male that he shouldn’t pet the dog several times however the male did not listen to the owner. The male then went face to face with the animal attempting to rub its head, startling the dog which then bit him in the lower area of the face.
As a result, the 51-year-old male of Hamilton, Ontario, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Paramedics to a Hamilton area hospital for further treatment.
The Norfolk County Health Unit has been notified.
No charges are being laid and the investigation is closed.
