(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 20-year-old male after police were called to a Highway 6, Hagersville, Haldimand County, Ontario address.
On Sunday, July 24, 2016, at approximately 12:31 a.m., an alert citizen contacted police about a grey coloured pickup truck that was travelling southbound on Highway 6 near Sandusk Road after the pickup truck struck the rear of blue coloured vehicle also travelling southbound.
The pickup truck failed to stop and continued southbound on Highway 6 when the driver attempted to turn onto Haldimand Road 55. The truck left the roadway and subsequently struck a fence and then a tree.
There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident.
As a result of investigation, police have charged 20-year-old Jonathan BINT of Norfolk County, Ontario with fail to stop at scene of accident, impaired driving, driving over the legal limit and young driver-blood alcohol concentration above zero.
He is to appear in Provincial Court, Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
