On November 20th at approximately 6:20am police responded to a call for a male trying to break into cars in the Lougheed and Mapleview Drive
area. Officers attended and the male fled into a wooded ravine area.
Approximately 30 minutes later police were alerted to the whereabouts of the male and upon arrival a foot chase ensued. The male went into a storage facility then jumped a fence into a wooded area. While running from the police the youth fell into a small pond submerging himself up to his waist however he was able to pull himself out. The youth then gave up and was arrested and brought to the RVH for treatment from falling in the pond and cuts to his hands from jumping fences.
In lieu of being charged, due to the youths age, lack of a criminal record and the offence committed, he will be required to complete extra judicial measures in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
