Youth Have Fireworks Fight On School Property

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment investigated an incident after being called to a Morgan Drive, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at approximately 9:37 p.m., a concerned citizen contacted police after several youths were observed on the soccer field of McKinnon Park Secondary School.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that the youths were observed lighting off fireworks on the field and then firing fireworks at each other as well as into the ground of the soccer field.

Police attended the address however the youths had already left the area.

The OPP are reminding all Haldimand County residents to contact police to report suspicious activity by calling 1-888-310-1122.

“This is a very dangerous act that had the potential to damage surrounding properties or injure an innocent bystander. Fireworks are meant to be handled with care by adults in a mature and responsible manner.”- Constable Ed Sanchuk, Haldimand County OPP.
