(ORILLIA, ON) – One would think that temperatures near -20C degrees would be enough motivation to stay inside and keep warm. This was not the case though on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Members on the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment arrested a 17 year old male for spray painting several buildings in the north end of Orillia.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., a member of the public had observed the suspect painting one of the buildings and police were called. Officers responded to the area and spotted the suspect. The suspect ran when he saw police. Police contained the area and after a short search the suspect was located and arrested. Five buildings in total were ‘tagged’ with spray paint.
The Orillia youth has been charged with five counts of Mischief Under $5,000. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a Youth Court date in March 2014.
