(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a 28-year-old male from Morris-Turnberry following a crash that took place over the weekend in Wroxeter.
Just after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 Huron OPP officers and Huron Couunty Paramedic Services responded to a crash that took place on Church Street in Wroxeter.
Upon arrival officers located a Dodge Ram pickup truck that had been driven off the roadway. The truck had struck a cement catch basin in the ditch and was then propelled into a fence and a tree where it ultimately came to rest.
The driver attempted to flee in the truck however the truck was heavily damaged and was also stuck in the mud. While speaking with the driver the investigating officer determined the male driver was impaired by alcohol and had been in care and control of the pickup truck. He was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital where he was assessed for minor injuries. The driver later provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, Cory CHAPMAN, 28 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Impaired Care & Control. He was later released with a scheduled court appearance set for May 11, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded.
