Woman Charged with Multiple Offences

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman following a domestic related incident yesterday.

In September 2013, the woman was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was to abstain from communicating or associating with a specific Blenheim man. Another condition stated that she was not to attend the man’s home.

Around 12:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, the man contacted police to report that the woman had attended his residence twice and engaged him in a short conversation. As officers arrived on scene, they observed the woman in her vehicle. The officers initiated a traffic stop and the woman stopped at the intersection of Stanley Street and Marlborough Street. As the officer approached the vehicle, the woman yelled obscenities and drove away at a high rate of speed. Officers maintained visual contact of the vehicle from a safe distance and observed the woman disobeying at least four intersections controlled by stop signs. Officers located the woman at her home where she resisted arrest by throwing a chair towards the officers. The woman was taken into custody.

The 49-year-old Shrewsbury woman has been charged with failing to comply x3, flight from police, dangerous driving and resisting arrest. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
