Wingham Commercial Property Values Crash As Taxes Soar To Support Council & Staff Raises – Money Pit Train Station Offered To Council

Taxes on commercial property are so high in Wingham it has resulted in dozens of vacancies on Josephine Street. This combined with the BIA TAX, sign tax and apartment tax makes Wingham one the worst places to invest in commercial property or start a business. Things are so bad council has decided to give away $10,000 of our tax money in an attempt to get a parasite to compete with existing business on Josephine. That’s right, council is forcing business to pay for competition.

Another indication of how bad things are in Wingham is the train station. This is a money-pit that no one wants to buy or rent, as proven by over a decade of being vacant. So, what do you do when you get stuck paying the highest taxes in Canada and a “historic” building no sane person would touch? You give it away to council so you don’t have to pay taxes anymore, and do it over 20 years as a “donation” to reap huge income tax benefits.
