(POWASSAN, ON) – On November 30, 2013 members of the Powassan Detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Highway 522, East Mills Township when they noticed a westbound vehicle swerving. The vehicle failed to stop and police were involved in a suspect apprehension pursuit. The vehicle stopped without incident.
As a result, William RUPERT, age 28, of Arnstein, Ontario was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
1) drive while ability impaired;
2) care and control over 80 mgs;
3) dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; and
4) flight while pursued by peace officer.
He was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay.
