Wild Turkey Vs Tractor Trailer – One Deceased

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Thursday, October 1, 2015, at approximately 11:09 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a collision on Hwy. 10 near Road 160 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands involving a wild turkey.

A 2015 Freightliner tractor trailer was travelling northbound on Hwy. 10 when a wild turkey flew out from the east ditch into the windshield and bug deflector of the tractor. Damage was estimated at over $2,000.

The 41 year old driver from Owen Sound was not injured. The turkey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Grey County OPP remind motorists to expect the unexpected. Slow down, stay in control and stay alert. Avoid sudden braking or over-stearing, and always wear your seat belt.
