WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment are asking “What is it going to take?” to get vehicle owners and drivers to lock their vehicle doors.

Since the first of the year Norfolk County OPP has received 122 reported incidents of vehicle’s being entered.

The solution is simple, remove your valuables and lock your doors.

Items being removed are loose change, sunglasses, GPS units, CD’s & DVD’s, laptops, portable DVD players, wallets and purses.

This amounts to huge losses for vehicle owners and huge gains for the criminals.

“These crimes and the resulting losses can be prevented by simply removing your items and locking and securing your vehicle,” comments Norfolk County OPP Detachment Commander Zvonko Horvat.

Tips to prevent you from becoming a target:

Always secure your vehicle doors when parking your vehicle, even if you are only going to be a few minutes.
Remove valuables from your vehicle. If you can’t, then keep them from plain view.
Park in well lighted areas with high traffic.
Clean out your garage and park your vehicle in it – locking your vehicle and the garage door.

Do your part, lock your vehicle.
