Weekend Update – Orillia OPP

(ORILLIA, ON) – Over the weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 115 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang-ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, motor vehicle collisions and impaired drivers.

On April 29, 2016 at approximately 10:16 p.m., officers from the Orillia OPP stopped a vehicle on Fittons Road East in the City of Orillia. The vehicle was observed earlier by a member of the public swerving within its lane. After further investigation the officer arrested the driver at the scene.

Jacob CAMIRAND, 23 years old of Orillia, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Criminal Court on May 17, 2016.

On April 30, 2016 at approximately 1:50 a.m., an Orillia OPP officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Front Street North in the City of Orillia. After further investigation the officer arrested the driver at the scene.

John HIPWELL, 20 years old of Orillia, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Criminal Court on May 17, 2016.

On April 30, 2016 at approximately 6:58 p.m., Orillia OPP was dispatched to a collision between two ATV’s on Monck Road in Ramara Township. When officers arrived at scene they were advised that two males had been transported to hospital with minor injuries. After further investigation a male youth has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Youth Court on May 4, 2016.
