Weapons And Methamphetamine Bust – Teens, Repeat Offender And Winghamite Arrested After Getting Stuck In Mud Trying To Evade Police – Names Released

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged four Huron County residents with a number of criminal offences following their arrests that took place this weekend.

On Sunday, November 20, 2016 at approximately 12:30 p.m. a Huron OPP officer spotted a stolen Ford F-250 pickup truck backing out of a conservation area located near Turnberry-Culross Road. As the officer pulled in to initiate a traffic stop the driver accelerated forward and tried to escape however the truck quickly became stuck in the mud. Once they realized they were stuck, the four occupants took off running into the wooded area.

Officers from the Huron OPP and South Bruce OPP Detachments were able to contain the area until a canine unit arrived on scene. A short while later officers watched as a car showed up to pick up the four suspects. At that point officers intervened and were able to take the four wet and muddy suspects into custody. A subsequent search of the stolen vehicle revealed two unauthorized .22 calibre rifles inside the truck. Additionally, two of the suspects were found to be in possession of illegal drugs.

As a result, the following individuals have been charged:

Quinn CAMPBELL, 20 years of age from North Huron has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (2 counts) and Fail to Comply with a Recognizance. He remains in custody with a video court appearance scheduled for November 22, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Dana FITZGERALD, 23 years of age from Wingham has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (2 counts) and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine. She has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 9, 2017.

A 17-year-old male from Central Huron has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (2 counts) and Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 5, 2017 at the Ontario Youth Justice Court – Goderich.

A 15-year-old female from Seaforth has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (2 counts). She has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 5, 2017 at the Ontario Youth Justice Court – Goderich.
