(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at approximately 9:43 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 608 in the Municipality of Neebing.
When officers arrived at the scene they observed a Jeep Cherokee in the ditch off of Highway 608 in the Municipality of Neebing. Officers located the male driver at a nearby residence. Upon speaking with the driver, the officers detected an odour of alcohol emitting from the drivers breath and the driver was displaying obvious signs of impairment.
Wayne MERLO, 61 years of age, from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired and Care and Control with Over 80 mgs of alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.
He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on January 8, 2016 to answer to the charges.
