(CALEDON, ON) – On April 4th, 2015 shortly after 4:15 pm, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling in the area of Regional Road 50 in the Village of Bolton at which time he observed a male operating his vehicle in an erratic manner. The officer observed as the driver failed to stop for a red light then striking a raised sidewalk beside the roadway. Subsequently, the officer conducted a vehicle stop to check on the driver’s sobriety. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer immediately detected that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol. The male was arrested and transported to Detachment for testing.
As a result of the vehicle stop, Vijai RAMNARINE, 39, from Brampton was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 and is further charged with Highway Traffic Act of Ontario offenses.
The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The accused was released and he is scheduled to make a first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 16th, 2015.
