(SPRINGWATER TWP, ON.) – Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are reminding motorists to lock their vehicles especially during overnight hours. In the last month, 8 motor vehicles have been stolen from homes in Springwater Township while the owners were asleep. In most cases the thefts could have been avoided by simply locking the doors and storing the ignition keys out of sight.
The most recent stolen vehicle was reported on October 14th, 2015. A black GMC SUV was stolen sometime overnight from an unlocked garage. The keys were left in the ignition. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the garage through an unlocked man door. The vehicle has since been recovered.
