Vehicle Leaves Road And Kills Pedestrian On Private Property

(ADELAIDE METCALFE, ON) – The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash which occurred at approximately 1:51 p.m. on July 2, 2015.

A red Mazda car was traveling westbound on Napperton Drive when it left the roadway for yet to be determined reasons. The vehicle continued traveling parallel to the roadway on the north side of Napperton Road.

The vehicle struck a pedestrian on private property.

It then struck a tree and crossed Napperton Drive where it came to a rest on its side on the south side of the roadway.

The 45 year old pedestrian, from Adelaide Metcalfe, Ontario, died at the scene. His identity is being withheld as next of kin is being notified.

The 34 year old male driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, from Strathroy Caradoc, Ontario, was transported by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries to hospital, where he remains.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are attending to assist with the investigation.

As a result, Napperton Drive is closed between School Road and Seed Road, and is expected to remain closed for at least 5 hours. Motorists will have to find an alternative route.
