(THESSALON, ON) – On March 29, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 17, at the Municipality of Huron Shores.
At 2:03 p.m., police observed a westbound vehicle travelling more than 50 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit. The vehicle then proceeded to pass a subdued marked cruiser. A traffic stop was initiated.
As a result of the stop, David SLOAN, 51years of age, from Naughton, Ontario, was charged with: Drive Motor Vehicle –Perform Stunt, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. The driver’s vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence suspended for 7 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie, May 11, 2016.
