Upper Ottawa Valley Weekly Release

During the week of the 23rd to the 29th of March members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 242 incidents including domestics, RIDE programs and motor vehicle collisions.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

During the week of the 23rd of March to the 29th of March members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 19 motor vehicle collisions. 16 collisions were property damage and 3 were personal injury motor vehicle collisions.

Winter Driving

Be prepared and plan ahead – Check road and weather conditions ahead of time and allow extra time to reach your destination. Even though spring has officially arrived, it is still important to remember not to take chances, if the weather is bad wait until conditions improve. If you are taking a longer trip plan your route and let someone know your destination and expected time of arrival. Clear the snow and ice from your vehicle turn on its full lighting system and carry extra washer fluid.

RIDE

During the week of the 23rd of March to the 29th of March members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment conducted 12 RIDE programs. The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or use public transit.

Theft

On the 25th of March police were advised of a theft of cash from Pembroke St. East in the City of Pembroke. P/C Steve Regan is the investigating officer. The investigation is continuing.

On the 28th of March a report was filed of a theft of a 2002 Ski Doo MXZ800 red in color from Doran Road in Laurentian Valley Twp. The machine was subsequently located. P/C Dave Scott is the investigating officer. The investigation is continuing.

Assault

P/C Alda Proulx is the investigating officer in a report of a dispute on Michael Cr., in the Town of Petawawa. As a result, 49 year old Tammy Duder has been charged with Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis resin – under 1gram and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, as well as Assault contrary to the Criminal Code.

Shoplifting

On the 25th of March police were advised of a shoplifting complaint from Wal-Mart in Laurentian Valley Twp. Charges are pending against an adult female. The investigation is continuing. P/C Ian Morin is the investigating officer.

On the 27th of March police were advised by store security of a shoplifting complaint at Wal-Mart in Laurentian Valley Twp. As a result 21 year old Ryan Knapp has been charged with Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING and Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code. P/C Andy Howat is the investigating officer.

Theft from Motor Vehicle

On the 26th of March police were advised of a theft of loose change from a vehicle that had been parked on Deacon St. in the City of Pembroke. P/C Shawn Gilbert was the investigating officer. The public is reminded to always lock unattended vehicles and or remove valuables.

Break Enter and Theft

On the 24th of March police were advised of a break and enter to a residence on Sandy Beach Road in Laurentian Valley Twp. As a result 31 year old Lidia Bouchard-Brown has been charged with:

• Break, Enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence

• Theft Under $5000

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

• Mischief Under $ 5,000

• Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs

• Possession of a Schedule II substance-Cannabis Marihuana – over 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

and

38 year old Leanne Etmanskie was charged with:

• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

• Break, Enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence

• Theft Under $5000

• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

• Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm contrary to the Criminal Code

Mischief

On the 24th of March a report was filed in which two windows were damaged on Biggs Road in Laurentian Valley Twp. P/C Ray Leclair is the investigating officer.

On the 29th of March a report was filed in which a window was broke to a residence on D’Arcy St. in the City of Pembroke. P/C Steve Regan is the investigating officer. The investigation is continuing.

Domestic Disputes

During the week of the 23rd of March to the 29th of March members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment investigated 15 domestic disputes. As a result one adult male was charged with Assault and Mischief under $ 5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code.

Dispute

On the 29th of March a complaint was filed of a dispute on Limestone Trail in the Town of Petawawa. P/C Alda Proulx is the investigating officer. The investigation is continuing.
