(PEMBROKE, ON) During the week of the 30th of March to the 05th of April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 261 incidents including domestic disputes, thefts, and motor vehicle collisions.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
During the week of the 30th of March to the 05th of April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 20 motor vehicle collisions. 19 collisions were property damage and 1 was a personal injury motor vehicle collision.
RIDE
During the week of the 30th of March to the 05th April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment conducted 16 RIDE programs. The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or use public transit.
Mischief
On March 30th police were called to Moncion Photography on Pembroke St. West regarding an act of mischief after a display sign in front of the store was damaged. A suspect has been identified and police continue to investigate.
Drugs
On March 30th police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle and occupants were located at an address on Paul Martin Drive in the City of Pembroke. As a result of the investigation police have charged two males. James Clayton WHITE age 38 of Pembroke is charged with possession of a schedule I substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). Terrence BLAKE age 50 of Kingston, ON is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code, possession of a schedule I substance and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the CDSA. Both WHITE and BLAKE were held for a bail hearing.
Impaired/Over 80mg
On March 31st police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located and stopped on Petawawa Blvd in the Town of Petawawa. As a result 39 year old Connie JONES of Petawawa has been charged with impaired driving and driving with over 80mg of alcohol in her blood. Jones was released on a promise to appear in court.
Theft / Shoplifting
On March 30th police responded to a report of theft from a vehicle parked at a residence in the Town of Petawawa. Sometime between March 19th and March 25th, unknown person(s) stole climbing equipment from the bed of a pickup truck. The investigation is continuing.
On March 30th police received a report of shoplifting from Mac’s Milk on Pembroke St. East in the City of Pembroke. As a result of the investigation Phillip HARWOOD age 22 of Pembroke was charged with 2 counts of theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code. Harwood was released on a promise to appear with a future court date.
On March 31st police attended at Walmart in Laurentian Valley Township in response to a shoplifting complaint. Investigation revealed that a quantity of tools had been stolen. As a result 24 year old Cameron Michael WISHART of the Township of Whitewater Region has been charged with theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code. WISHART was released on a promise to appear.
On April 02nd police attended at Walmart in Laurentian Valley Township in response to a shoplifting complaint. Investigation revealed that a piece of power equipment had been stolen by two female suspects. As a result Melissa CARLE age 34 and Carly FARRELL age 26, both of Pembroke, have each been charged with one count of theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code. Both females were released on a promise to appear in court.
Domestic Disputes
During the week of the 30th of March to the 05th of April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment investigated 14 domestic disputes. As a result:
· One adult male was charged with uttering threats contrary to the Criminal Code
· One adult male was charged with three counts of assault contrary to the Criminal Code
· One adult female was charged with three counts of assault contrary to the Criminal Code
· One adult male was charged with three counts of assault, two counts of forcible confinement and one count of disobeying a court order contrary to the Criminal Code.
