(PEMBROKE, ON) During the week of the 6th of April to the 12th of April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 251 incidents including domestic disputes, thefts, mischiefs, and motor vehicle collisions.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
During the week of the 06th of April to the 12th of April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 21 motor vehicle collisions. 20 collisions were property damage and 1 collision was a personal injury motor vehicle collision.
RIDE
During the week of the 06th of April to the 12th April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment conducted 8 RIDE programs. The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or use public transit.
Assault
On April 10th police were called to disturbance on Petawawa Boulevard involving two male parties. As a result Joseph Charles SMITH age 31 of Petawawa was charged with assault and causing a disturbance contrary to the Criminal Code. SMITH was released on a promise to appear with a future court date. The victim of the assault sustained minor injuries.
Mischief
On April 6th police received a report of mischief to a vehicle while it was parked on Church Street in the City of Pembroke. A window on the vehicle was broken. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.
On April 10th police received a report of mischief that had occurred to a parked pickup truck on Mary St. in the City of Pembroke. The truck’s cap was damaged and the damage was reported to have occurred between April 6th and April 8th.
On April 11th police received a report of a homeowner’s light post being knocked over near the end of a residential driveway in the Town of Petawawa.
Impaired/Over 80mg
On April 08th police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Township of Whitewater Region. As a result Roger Anthony DEMERS, age 54, of Petawawa is charged with care or control of a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol in his blood. DEMERS was released on promise to appear with a future court date.
On April 09th, as a result of an erratic driving complaint, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Town of Petawawa. As a result Withny DAGRAIN, a 36 year old male from the Town of Petawawa, is charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in his blood contrary to the Criminal Code. DAGRAIN was released on a promise to appear with a future court date.
On April 11th police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the City of Pembroke. As a result Daniel James CHARBONNEAU, age 42, of Laurentian Valley Township was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in his blood contrary to the Criminal Code. CHARBONNEAU was released on a promise to appear with a future court date.
On April 12th, due to a driving complaint, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Laurentian Valley Township. As a result Ralph Robert GUTZMAN, age 70, of the City of Pembroke is charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in his blood contrary to the Criminal Code.
Theft / Shoplifting
On April 7th police responded to a report of shoplifting from Staples at the Pembroke Mall in the City of Pembroke. A home security device was reported stolen. The suspect was described as a Caucasian male in his 40’s with a medium build. The suspect was wearing tan pants, white shoes and a red long sleeved shirt bearing the Montreal Canadiens logo. The investigation is continuing.
On April 12th Walmart in Laurentian Valley Township reported the theft of a household electronic device. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is continuing.
Break and Enter
On April 11th police responded to a break, enter and theft at a residence in the City of Pembroke. A video game console, video games, a cell phone, and personal identification were reported stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Disputes
During the week of the 06th of April to the 12th of April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment investigated 11 domestic disputes. As a result:
· One adult male was charged with two counts of breach of probation contrary to the Criminal Code
· One adult male was charged with one count of assault contrary to the Criminal Code
