Update: SIU Invokes Mandate Following Collision

(KILLALOE, ON) – On March 28, 2015 at approximately 1:50am officers from the Killaloe OPP Detachment attempted to stop a motor vehicle. The vehicle failed to do so and a short time later, it was located after it had been involved in a collision on Highway 60 at Highway 41, west of Eganville.

Two of the three persons in the vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the motor vehicle, Brandon Scott HIPKIN, 19, of McNab-Braeside Towniship was remanded into to custody on the following charges:

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm

Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Marihuana – Under 30 grams

Flight from Police – Cause Bodily Harm

Fail to Stop for Police

Speeding

He is to appear in court on March 30, 2015 at The Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke for a bail hearing.

The province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) was notified by the OPP and has invoked its mandate. Any further inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at 416-622-2342.
