(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) –On Monday, March 9th 2015, Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of three Protected Habitats erected long 6 Highway, near Clarkes Corners in Northern Bruce Peninsula, ON.
Sometime between March 5th at 8:00pm and March 6th at 8:00am, unknown suspect(s) used a chainsaw to cut down the Protected Habitats/birdhouses. The Habitats were erected for the Barn Swallows, which are a protected species project, directed by the Province of Ontario.
***The cost of each protected habitat is $10 000 with a total cost of $30 000. An additional cost of $16 000 has now been reported; due to the reckless actions of unknown person(s).
