(NATION TOWNSHIP, ON) – On July 12, 2014 at approximately 2:58 am officers of the Hawkesbury detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Concession Road 9, Nation Township.
A passenger, Renaud SAVAGE, 24 of Casselman, ON, died at scene. A second male passenger was transported to hospital where he remains in critical, life-threatening condition. A third male passenger remains in hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. Two (2) other passengers were not injured.
The driver, Miguel DEMERS, 23 of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township was remanded into custody on Sunday, July 13, 2014 to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, L’Orignal on July 16, 2014 on the following charges:
Impaired Driving Causing Death
Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm – 2 counts
Dangerous Driving Causing Death
Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm – 2 counts
Theft of Motor Vehicle
The investigation is continuing.
