(GRENVILLE, ON) – On September 1, 2013 at approximately 12:30am, members of the Grenville detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a hit and run collision on County Road 2, near Irace Drive, Augusta Township.
Upon arriving, officers launched an investigation, notifying the Brockville Police Service.
A short time later, Brockville Police Service arrested 23-year-old Joseph GREER of Augusta Township who is charged with:
– Impaired Driving
– Over 80 and
– Indignity to a dead body
The OPP arrested a second adult male later in the morning. Twenty-one (21) year-old Rusty PEARCE of Brockville is charged with:
– Fail to remain at the scene of an accident contrary to the Criminal Code and
– Indignity to a dead body
Both men appeared by video and remanded into custody to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Brockville on Thursday, September 5, 2013.
Sixteen (16) year old Aaron Stevenson of Brockville was taken to hospital and pronounced dead. A post mortem examination is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in Ottawa.
The joint investigation, led by OPP Acting Detective Inspector Jim Smyth Criminal Investigation Branch, is continuing.
