(DRYDEN, ON) On Friday, September 6, 2013, at approximately 8:20pm members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Treaty Three, officers responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision involving two horses on Highway 17 in Wainwright Township. The Eastbound white Chevrolet car collided with two horses that were standing in the East bound lane. The driver has been air lifted to Thunder Bay Regional Health center with serious injuries and the passenger was released from the Dryden Health Center.
One horse died at the scene and the other horse is reported to make a full recovery. Investigation is still on going.
The driver of the motor vehicle has been identified as Crystal MACHENDAGOOS (38yrs old) of Vermilion Bay. At approximately 5:00pm on September 10, 2013 MACHENDAGOOS succumbed to her injuries at Thunder Bay Regional Health Center.
