(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On December 2, 2013 at approximately 4: 40pm officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser and an unloaded commercial motor vehicle (logging truck). The collision occurred on Highway 11 between Windy Point Bridge and Reef Point Road resulting in the deaths of both the driver and passenger of the Chrysler PT Cruiser.
The driver has been identified as David CHAMBERS, age 82 years and the passenger as Louise CHAMBERS, age 75 years. Both deceased were residents of Fort Frances, ON.
The OPP with the support of the North West Region Traffic and Marine Unit continue to investigate the collision in consultation with the Regional Coroner’s office. A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place today at the Lake of the Wood District Hospital at 12:30pm.
