(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a motor vehicle collision at a Concession 11,Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Thursday, September 18, 2014 at approximately 8:07 p.m., Norfolk County OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Paramedics responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.
Investigation has determined that a 13 year old female of Norfolk County, was riding her bicycle eastbound on Concession 11 and a Ford motor vehicle being operated by a 74 year old female of Norfolk County, also travelling eastbound became involved in a collision.
The cyclist suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital and then air lifted to a Hamilton hospital for further treatment. The 13 year old female has been downgraded and in now listed in serious but stable condition.
It was determined that the cyclist was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the collision and is being considered a contributing factor towards her injuries.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.
