Uninsured Impaired Driver Arrested In Bluevale

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A call to police from a concerned citizen about an erratic driver has led to a number of charges being laid against a driver from Stratford. Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on October 31, 2015 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information about an erratic driver that was last seen driving westbound on Highway 86 from Listowel. Officers immediately began patrolling for the suspect vehicle, a Pontiac Aztec. A few minutes later officers located the suspect vehicle in Bluevale at the intersection of Amberley Road and Harriston Road.

A traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with the male driver the officer noted the driver had consumed alcohol. In addition, the driver displayed several signs that he was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation. He was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver failed to provide breath samples to the Intoxilizer Technician.

Further investigation revealed the motor vehicle was uninsured, the attached licence plates were not authorized for the vehicle and the driver held a novice class driver’s licence.

As a result, 28-year-old Michael ROY from Stratford has been charged with Impaired Operation, Fail to Provide Breath Sample, Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle and Class G1 Licence Holder Unaccompanied by Qualified driver. He was released from custody with a court appearance schedule for January 4, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
