UNACCOUNTED METHADONE – MARKDALE

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the I.D.A. Pharmacy in Markdale are working together to locate a quantity of methadone which has been reported as unaccounted for from the pharmacy.

On Thursday, July 3, 2014 at approximately 8:00 p.m., the owner of the I.D.A. Pharmacy located at 2 Toronto St., N., Markdale, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands, contacted police alerting them to the missing methadone, which was last dispensed on Wednesday, July 2nd, in the late afternoon.

Grey County OPP wish to alert residents as to the unaccounted methadone as a public safety measure. Should anyone locate a dark coloured medicinal glass bottle, labelled “methadone”, they are to contact the OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122.

Methadone is a synthetic addictive narcotic drug used for the relief of pain and as a substitute narcotic in the treatment of heroin addiction.

If used improperly, ingesting a small quantity of methadone may be fatal.
