(POINT EDWARD, ON) Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the Blue Water Bridge port of entry to Canada, during the afternoon of August 15, 2013, in regards to a United States (U.S.) citizen in the custody of the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA).
The OPP investigation revealed that the 50 year old male from Ellwood, Kansas, had attempted to enter into Canada from the U.S. while driving a tractor trailer that contained a firearm.
Officers from CBSA allege that they had located a prohibited 32 calibre Cobra handgun and ammunition during an inspection of the cab of the vehicle.
The OPP continued with the investigation and arrested the driver to be held for a bail appearance on August 16, 2013 in a Sarnia courtroom.
The driver faces the following charges:
Knowingly occupy motor vehicle containing a firearm
Possess prohibited firearm
Import a prohibited weapon
