Two Walmart Shoplifters Charged

(PEMBROKE, ON) – On the evening of September 16, 2015 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call regarding a shoplifting incident in progress at the Walmart in Laurentian Valley Township. Two adult females were observed exiting the store, each with a shopping cart full of various types of merchandise that they had not paid for. Both suspects left on foot and were arrested a short distance away by police. Both were found to be on probation. As a result 37 year-old Tara THORPE and 30 year-old Alicia Lynn LEMAIRE, both of Pembroke, are each charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

· Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

· Breach of Probation – Two counts

LEMAIRE and THORPE were both held for a bail hearing. They are scheduled to appear on September 17, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. The merchandise, valued at an estimated $2000, was returned to Walmart.
