The Chatham-Kent police have arrested two men following a shoplifting incident in Chatham.
Around 5:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Wal-Mart. At this time, an employee reported that he observed two men attend the clothing section and place a coat in their cart. The men continued to the electronics section where they removed the security wire from a Nintendo Wii gaming system. While in the infants section, the men opened the box and began placing items under their clothing. The men proceeded to the exit doors while making no attempt to pay for any merchandise. Once outside, the men were taken into custody. One man identified himself using photo identification. The second man verbally identified himself. Through investigation, police determined that the man falsely identified himself and his true identity was learned.
A 25-year-old McGregor man has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been released pending a future court date.
A 26-year-old Windsor man has been charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and obstruct police. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
