(Prince Edward County, ON)— On June 8, 2015 at 6:27pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment received a number of complaints reporting a possible impaired driver travelling Southbound on County Rd 4 into Picton.
OPP located the suspect vehicle on Queen St in Picton, ON.
Julia SMYTH, 47 of Picton, ON is charged with Operating While Impaired, contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Operation With Over 80mgs. of Alcohol, contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was later released from police custody on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton on June 24th, 2015.
(Prince Edward County, ON) — On June 8, 2015 at 11:49pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment were on patrol on County Rd 30 when they observed a vehicle driving erratically. Police activated their emergency lights at which time the suspect vehicle accelerated. For the safety of the public, police discontinued following the fleeing suspect vehicle, which continued North on Highway 62.
The vehicle was subsequently stopped in Quinte West in a combined effort of Prince Edward County OPP and Belleville City Police.
Robert COLE, 51 of Belleville ON was charged with:
Operating While Impaired, contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Operation with Over 80mgs. of Alcohol, contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Flight from Peace Officer, contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada,
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was later released from police custody on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton on July 8th, 2015.
