(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On September 29, 2017 a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol on Clarke Road, near Ilderton Road, Middlesex Centre.
The officer noticed that the validation for the licence plate was expired. A traffic stop was initiated.
Police determined that the 41-year-old male driver of the vehicle had consumed alcohol. A roadside breath test was administered and resulted in a three (3) day driver’s licence suspension.
Upon further investigation, the officer located an open container alcohol in the vehicle and 2 large black garbage bags containing plant material believed to be recently harvested cannabis plants.
As a result of this investigation, Christopher James JOHNSTON of London, ON has been charged with Drive motor vehicle, no permit pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available pursuant to the Liquor Licence Act (LLA), and Possession of Cannabis Marihuana – Over 30 grams, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC).
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on November 3, 2017.
