(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora OPP with assistance from the Northwest Region Crime Unit, the Kenora Forensic Identification Unit and the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team have released the names of two people charged in connection with a cottage fire on Lake of the Woods.
On Thursday July 21, 2016 at around 8:30 am police received a call of a cottage on fire in the Clearwater Bay area. Police attended with fire and emergency crews and found the cottage fully engulfed in flames. Two suspects were located in the area and the investigation led to their arrests for Arson and Break and Enter. The female was transported by ambulance to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Corbin MILLS (40 yrs) of Sydney BC has been charged with Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC) and Arson sec 434 CC.
Cayla PRATT (25 yrs) of Alberta has been charged with Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence sec 348(1)(b) CC, Arson sec 434 CC. and Fail to Comply with Undertaking se 145(3) CC.
They have both been released to attend Kenora Court on September 8, 2016 to answer to the charges.
The Office of the Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
