Trespass by Night

In July 2014, members of the Crime Prevention Unit, with the assistance of the London Police Service Auxiliary members, delivered a crime alert notice to the residents living in the geographical area from Richmond Street at the Western University gates extending east to the neighbourhood around King’s College. This crime alert was part of an investigation by the members of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section involving complaints that were received about an individual using a small hand-held camera and looking into bedroom and bathroom windows at female occupants, and possibly recording them. There was no description of the individual at this time.

On Monday, September 29, 2014 at 10:30 p.m., a member of the London Police Service Canine Unit arrested a 49-year-old London resident in the area of Richmond Street and Cheapside Street, in relation to a trespass by night investigation. A search warrant was subsequently executed at a home in southeast London. Members of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section are continuing this investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Walter Figueiredo has been charged with six counts of trespass by night, contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code of Canada. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing on October 3, 2014.
