Transportation Fraud

Police began investigating a case of transportation fraud after a driver for Brad’s Taxi approached them to advise of a fraud. On January 19 the suspect paid for two previous trips in a taxi with a third party cheque. The taxi company contacted the cheque writer and learned the cheque was not intended for that purpose. Officers further learned the suspect was breaching conditions of his probation. At the conclusion of the investigation Cory PLEBON 33 of Renfrew was charged with 2 counts of transportation fraud and 5 counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing, which will continue on January 27. Provincial Constable Troy Dobbie investigated.
