Traffic Stop Solves Break And Enter – Two Arrested

(PAPINEAU-CAMERON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On October 23 at approximately 11:15 p.m., members from the Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on Papineau Road in Papineau-Cameron Township.

While speaking with the driver and passenger, the officers noticed an extensive amount of property in the back seat which included a large amount of tools. Drug paraphernalia was also noticed by the officers.

As a result of the investigation, Karl MIRAULT, age 24, and Justin THOMAS, age 25, of Mattawa, Ontario, were arrested and charged with the following:

Possession of Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) CDSA.

Break, Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code(CC).

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC.

Both accused were held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario, on October 24, 2016.
