Traffic Stop Results In Criminal Charges

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – Members of the Matheson Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two people as a result of a traffic stop at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Highway 11 in Matheson, on January 27, 2015.

During the traffic investigation police located quantities of suspected marijuana buds and psilocybin (magic mushrooms) as well as a large amount of Canadian currency. Police also seized what was believed to be a large quantity of stolen property from inside the vehicle.

As a result of the police investigation, the driver, Dean John HUMENIUK, 26, of Timmins, and the passenger, Elizabeth Diana PYE, 27, of Oshawa, were both charged with 2 Counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the purpose of trafficking as per section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime as per section 355 (b) as per the Criminal Code of Canada.

They are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on February 2, 2015.
