Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charges

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged two people with drug offences following a traffic stop at a Haldimand Road 17, Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Wednesday October 19, 2016 at approximately 12:33 p.m., OPP were conducting routine patrols in the area of Haldimand Road 17 when a vehicle caught the officer’s attention. Police stopped the vehicle and investigated. While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, a quantity of an illegal substance was in plain view of the officers. A further search of the vehicle resulted in more illegal substances located.

Further investigation determined the male passenger had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

OPP has charged 22-year-old Martin GORDYN of Fenwick, Ontario with:

two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance

one count of Possession of a Schedule II Substance

and one count of Obstructing a Peace Officer

He was held for a bail hearing.

OPP has also charged 35-year-old Renee BAKER of Dunnville, Ontario with 2 counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance.

She is to appear in Provincial Court, Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
