(PETROLIA, ON) – Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid further charges in relation to an incident which occurred on Friday September 25th, 2015.
On Monday September 28th, 2015, an adult male party attended the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police – Petrolia Detachment and turned himself over to police stating that he provided police with a false identity on the day of the initial arrest.
As a result, 38 year-old Jeffrey John GOWING of London, ON was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Over 30mgs
Resist Peace Officer
Public Mischief
Obstruct Peace Officer
Personation with Intent to avoid Arrest, Prosecution, or Obstruct Justice
The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday December 16th, 2015.
On Friday September 25th, 2015, at approximately 3:29 p.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation on Discovery Line, Town of Petrolia which resulted in a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) seizure.
OPP observed a HTA violation on a motor vehicle travelling northbound on Center Street then turn onto Discovery Line, Town of Petrolia. Prior to initiating the traffic stop, the motorcycle officer following the suspect motor vehicle detected a strong odour of suspected marihuana, emanating from the vehicle.
A traffic stop was initiated and during this stop the officer located 27, freshly harvested, marihuana plants within the vehicle. During the arrest, one of the three male parties attempted to flee on foot from officers, however this male party was quickly apprehended without any further incident or injury to police or the suspect.
36 year-old Trevor WRIGHT of London, ON was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Over 30mgs
Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
41 year-old Augustus MORRISSEY of Adelaide-Metcalfe Township, ON was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Over 30mgs
Both accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday November 18th, 2015.
