Traffic Stop Leads To Drug And Weapons Charges

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On July 20, 2015, just before midnight, a member of the Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Region Highway Enforcement Team (WRHET) stopped a Toyota Matrix on Highway 401 westbound, near Charing Cross Road.

Subsequent investigation at roadside led to the seizure of a significant amount of suspected Fentanyl patches, with an estimated value of $15,750, along with a small amount of suspected Methamphetamine and Oxycodone. Further investigation uncovered a hand gun, a BB gun, ammunition, a knife and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The following four occupants of the vehicle were arrested:

· Michael BOUDREAU, 33 years old, from Mississauga

· Bryan CHEVALIER, 24 years old, from Lakeshore

· Amanda STRUHAR, 23 years old, from Lakeshore

· George GEORGAKOPOULOUS, 39 years old, from Mississauga

All four occupants of the vehicle have been charged with the following:

· Possession For The Purpose Of Trafficking, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

· Possession Of Oxycodone, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

· Unauthorized Possession Of A Prohibited Or Restricted Firearm, under the Criminal Code of Canada

· Occupant Of Motor Vehicle Knowing There Was A Prohibited Or Restricted Weapon, under the Criminal Code of Canada

· Possession Of Prohibited Or Restricted Firearm/Ammunition, under the Criminal Code of Canada

· Careless Storage Of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device Or Ammunition, under the Criminal Code of Canada

· Possession Of Weapon For Dangerous Purpose, under the Criminal Code of Canada

· Possession Of Imitation Weapon For Dangerous Purpose, under the Criminal Code of Canada

· Carrying Concealed Weapon (2 counts), under the Criminal Code of Canada

Other charges are as follows:

· BOUDREAU also charged with Possession Of Firearm Or Ammunition Contrary To Prohibition Order (2 counts), and Fail To Comply With Probation Order (4 counts), under the Criminal Code of Canada.

· CHEVALIER also charged with Possession Of Firearm Or Ammunition Contrary To Prohibition Order (3 counts), under the Criminal Code of Canada.

· STRUHAR also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, under the Criminal Code of Canada.

· GEORGAKOPOULOUS also charged with Fail To Comply With Recognizance (2 counts), under the Criminal Code of Canada.

All parties are scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on July 24, 2015, to answer to the charges.
