Traffic Stop Leads To $90,000 Drug Bust

(County of Brant, ON) – A member of the County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on patrol stopped a Grey 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck on Hwy# 24 (Brant Road) in the County of Brant at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Sunday October 23, 2016 for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

During the traffic stop the officer was alerted to some items in the vehicle and an investigation was started. During the course of the investigation the officer located a quantity or marijuana, ecstasy and methadone. The total value of seized drugs is estimated at over $90,000.

Police also seized 2 knives that were located inside the vehicle.

Police have arrested and charged:

19-year-old Matthieu McLEAN of Timmins with:

Possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances act x 2.

Possession of a substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances act.

Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon inside contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

29-year-old Krystal SEARLES of Haliburton with:

Possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances act x 2.

Possession of a substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances act.

Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon inside contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

28-year-old Scott SULLIVAN of Timmins with:

Possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances act x 2

Possession of a substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances act.

Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon inside contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Drive under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

All the involved parties will appear in Brantford Court at a later date to answer to their charges.
