Tractor Trailer Jackknifed On Hwy 10

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Thursday, December 31, 2015, at approximately 3:41 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Hwy. 10 between 70 Sideroad and 80 Sideroad in the Township of Chatsworth involving a tractor trailer.

The 53’ tractor trailer, which was empty, was travelling southbound on Hwy. 10 when the driver lost control of the vehicle on an icy section of roadway. The vehicle jackknifed and collided into the guard rail on the east side of the road before coming to rest partially in the ditch.

The 36-year old driver from Brampton, Ontario was transported to hospital with minor injuries and released.

Grey County Paramedic Services, the Chatsworth Fire Department and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) assisted at the scene.

Hwy. 10 between Holland Centre, south to 80 Sideroad, was closed for approximately three and a half hours for emergency personnel and equipment at the scene.

Grey County OPP remind motorists to adjust their driving to the current road and weather conditions. Speed too fast for conditions is the leading cause of winter collisions.
